KDOT requests information for electric vehicle charging station installation program

The Kansas Division of Transportation is saying a Request for Data (RFI) upfront of a Request for Proposals (RFP) to place in electrical automobile (EV) charging stations alongside the state’s most traveled highways.

• I-135 – Newton/North Newton

• S. 81 – Concordia

Nationwide there was a strong push for the adoption {of electrical} vehicles from every the personal and non-private sectors. Whereas some charging infrastructure already exists, it’s important for Kansas to ensure continuity of journey all through the state for vacationers and commerce, said Secretary Julie Lorenz.

“KDOT desires to work in partnership with the non-public sector to develop EV charging stations,” Lorenz siad. “This RFI is step one in that course of.”

Funding for the charging stations is obtainable by the Volkswagen Mitigation Belief, which made roughly $2 million accessible to Kansas for EV charging infrastructure.

Responses to this RFI must be emailed to kdot.designcontracts@ks.gov by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24.
